17 Jul 1767.Peter Copeland, Richard Copeland, Charles Semple on list of tithables.Pittsylvania County, Virginia Tithables.
Note: There were Copelands in Augusta County, Virginia in the mid-1760s associated with a family of Semples. In addition, an unassociated Peter Copeland was noted on the same deed pages as a John Semple in Spotsylvania Co., VA in 1752-1753.Lastly, the Copeland of very early Augusta County were thought to have migrated in from Spotsylvania/Orange Co., VA.Please watch out for further associations in case these families are simply branches of the same main Copeland tree.
