The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa
Saturday, February 3, l877
MARRIED. -- At the residence of the bride's parents, on the evening of January 25, MR. H. DARLEY COPELAND to MISS CARRIE CUSTER, only daughter of MR. and MRS. JAMES CUSTER, all of this city.
No event of the season has afforded more pleasure in recording it than this truly pleasant affair. The young and blooming bride we have known from childhood; from the days of bright, sparkling, innocent, romping childhood to the attainment of maturer years of womanhood. A favorite companion with her young associates, accomplished in those elegant refinements that make life and society charming, and blessed with youth and beauty, she is esteemed and admired by all, and carries with her the blessings and best wishes of a host of true friends.
The bridegroom, DARLEY COPELAND, has lived in our city for some time, as head clerk of the Chariton Bank. Combining the virtues of honesty, sobriety and industry, and all the traits that constitute manhood, he has secured the highest esteem of his acquaintances and associates.
A large and agreeable number of invited guests were witnesses of the ceremony which made the happy couple one, while a rich and costly array of elegant presents given on the occasion attested the good feeling of those present toward the bride and bridegroom. A fine collation of refreshments having been served, and congratulations duly tendered, the guests dispersed.
MR. COPELAND and bride will go to housekeeping immediately, as he has a neat cottage ready prepared for the reception of his prize.
