Jim,
I had seen deeds and census info on Copelands in Grenville SC, mainly Rueben and maybe James and had wondered if there were a connection to the Copelands of Anderson SC. Our Capatin William came to Charleston SC in Dec 1772 with Charles, his dad, Alexander, who lived in Spartanburg SC his brother and possibly some other siblings. He was about 16 at the time thus born ca 1754 in Ireland. He was in York Co SC when he enteren the Rev. and ended up in Anderson/Pickens/Old Pendleton Dist by 1793 when he bought land. His descendants scattered. One son James moved to Simpson Co Ky and died there in 1869. Another son, John was there also. Another son, Alexander, ended up in Lowndes Co Mississippi. Please bear with the rambling. There was a James Copeland on page 96 of the 1850 Lowndes Co Census , 57 born Tn, who had three Evans children in the household. The family just above this James has an Edward Henron/Herndon married to a Jane, who I suspect is a daughter of Alexander Copeland. Interesting enough is that in 1860 our James Copeland in Simpson Ky had an Orval Evans living in his household. Have you run across any connection between these lines? Willing to share info.
Thanks,
