Looking for information on Howard Darlington Copeland, that m. Carrie Eugenia Custer. Carrie was b. 23 June 1858, Chariton, Iowa. Carrie was daughter of James Brafford Custer & Susanna Summers Millan. Her father, James, was b. Rockingham Co., VA. Her mother, Oakley, Fairfax Court House, VA.
There was a Copeland train stop in what is now North Braddock, about 8 miles east of the city of Pittsburgh, PA. It was on the old Pennsylvania R&R tracks. There was a small train station there. I think this name came from the Civil war camp that was in that area.
Gen. Joseph Tarr Copeland was a Maine-born lawyer, Michigan Supreme Court Justice, and commander of the Michigan Cavalry Brigade. He turned the Brigade over to Gen. George A. CUSTER just before Gettysburg.
