Dolphinlee was an farm-estate in Lancashire County, quite a distance from Lincolnshire County.Copelands were tennants for several generations to the local lord, Lord Dalton.Lawrence Copeland, the progeniture of John Copeland b. 1612 Dolphinlee, ran two estates for Lord Dalton, being Dolphinlee and Aldcliffe, where Dalton's two spinster sisters lived. These were recusant families, who were Catholics during and after the reformation of the Anglican Church of England. It is believed Lawrence fell on hard times, while loosing much of this estate due to his recusantcy. It is also believed his eldest son Robert, later paid a heavy tax to return the estate to it's original size. Copelands lived at Dolphinlee until sometime in the 1700's when the line died out without issue. The Ball family took it over at this time.
