Hi Kim, I have reason to believe that General Joseph Cooper may have had two uncles named Peter and Eli and perhaps a third named William. The reason is the similarities between what John Cooper and Eli Cooper named their children and the fact that they were all in Campbell Co. Tenn. at the same time and then they all moved up to McCreary Co. Ky. Do you have any info on this? I'd appreciate your input, as I am hitting alot of roadblocks lately. Was General Cooper's father really from Maryland? Is there proof of that? It differs greatly from what I've always been told about my family origins so I am intriqued and want to find out all that I can. Thank you. Also have you found any evidence of Native American heritage, I had been told that this was the reason we moved around a bit, and that we finally passed for white due to our blue-gray eyes . Does any of that ring a bell? I heard all my life that the Cooper's came into Kentucky with Daniel Boone, and was even shown an ancient brick chimny from an old, old cabin that the wood had completely rotted back to earth, and was told that was the original homestead. So needless to say I'm at a loss about the whole Maryland thing.
