Dear Mary JKoan,
I am a cooper from Raonoke, ala
and dont right away see any connections
but i NEED all your cooper listings as
i have hunted decades for the father of
my great great grandfather william m cooper
who lived east (about8 miles) of roanoke at glenn, ga and then moved to near woodland...
whether or not there are any connections
to coopers we uncover
listen to this ...
my grandmother
ila princess meachum was very close pals
to a whitten family living 3-04 miles
southeast of roanoke
and as a child my mom would take her
to visit her buddy mr and mrs whitten
on that farm ...
note muy grandmother was mar to samuel
lester bonner who lived long time / whole
life to the east only couple miles fronm
the whitten home place at bonners corssing
right by his father james whimel cooper
bur at welch, ala
so i would go along too and roam over the
field behind the barn and peek into the barn
... i clearly recall not 1/2 but many many
home made implements as rakes with carved
handles that were all amazing as so many
implements and clearly useful etc....
on feature sticks in mind
many many of these homestead had a sand
frontyear that appeared to be ferom white
sand ... there is no location of white sane
anywhere near and only all the way to the
shore coast so that that practice is a
mystery ...where the snad came from etc
but it clearly kept weeds etc from that
front yard and so a clear front yard ...
how any could haul that much sand for
numberous homes so far is ??? as i said
a mystery ( i suspect it has a deeper meaning
as most of these arly fmailies were mason
members ....and it is a form of MARKING etc
so i i feel a member of the whitten family
even tho i dont know any actual ties
as yet ...
plesae send me your family tree for whiteen
and all the cooper info you have on that
family as the Henry Cooper you mention is old enuf perhaps an uncle of my above wm m cooper b 1819 and dying 1907
send to
[email protected]
this is Butch Leon Earl cooper, Jr
son of well known in roanoke LE Cooper, Sr
(earl) ... born 1911 still living with
my sister carol in macon, ga
ALSO my mom and I would go the the VINSON
farm to the east a little (4-5 miles) of the whitten home to WADE in the creek near
an old mill that was perhaps a vinson mill
(this vinson place is 1-2 miles se of
bacon level , ala which is about 2-3 miles
east of the whitten home place
and related to vinsons at this vinson farm
was the town engineer ... vinson
(my dad was on the council couple of times)
etc etc
