Gracie Lee West Cooper, 58, of Vale, NC, passed away
peacefully at Hospice House of Hickory, after a brave
battle with cancer.
She was first and foremost a devoted wife and mom and
served her family and Lord. She worked in the furniture
industry most of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Cooper.
She is survived by her mother, Bessie Britt, of TN;
daughters, Kathy Burkey, of Vale, NC, Lisa Hawn and
husband, Jeff of Vale, NC, and Becky Harris and husband
Rodney, of Hickory, NC; grandchildren , Chris and Hollie
Burkey, Christian and Ethan Harris, Dustin Hawn, and CJ
and Kira Burkey; and sisters, Lynn West, of GA, Betty Cox,
of SC, and Helen Honaker of TN.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice House
and all the caregivers who showed love and kindness to
their mom.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.,
and a memorial will follow. A service will be held on
Thursday, September 10, 2009, at Sandy Ridge Baptist
Church, Hickory, NC.
Memorials may be made to Members Credit Union, Gracie
Cooper Memorial, 2475 Northwest Blvd., Newton, NC 28658;
to be donated to Grace’s favorite charities.
