Most likely your Zadock was named for a biblical character and when he married Elizabeth they broke the line of children with names from the bible.

Consider looking at the 1840 SC census for Laurens Co and look at Ruhama COOPER as a widow with sons in household. The other COOPER listings in that county do not support the count.

Note also that "Ruhama" is also a biblical name. Most likely you will find perhaps the father to Zadock may been Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, etc.

Considering that Laurens Co SC was formed from the 96th District in 1785 [among other new counties] should narrow your research area within that region.
