Effie Cooper Lewis, 97, of Kingsport, Sullivan Co TN,
passed away March 12, 2008, at the home of her daughter
and son-in-law on Monday, May 12, 2008.
Effie was born on June 16, 1910 to the late George M. and
Mary E. Baker Cooper in Lot, KY. She lived most of her
life in Kingsport. She was a member of Ketron Memorial
United Methodist Church. She worked for Kingsport Press
until her retirement.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her
husband, Allen McDowell Lewis; sisters, Marie Robbins and
Etta Cooper; brother Carl Cooper.
She is survived by her daughter, Georgia Sue 'Susie'
Leonard and husband Randall; granddaughter, Nancy Fowler
and husband Bart; grandson, Joe Leonard and wife Sally;
five great-grandchildren, Joshua Tiller, Deidre Leonard,
Scott Leonard, Jodi Austin, and Morgan Fowler; four step-
great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren;
sister-in-law, Carolyn Cooper.
A graveside service will be held in Kingsport, TN, on
Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. at Oak Hill Memorial
Park in Section F with family members holding the service.
