Charles W. Cooper/Beulah Hightower, Commerce, GA, 1883
I am seeking information on the family and descendants of Charles W. Cooper, 1858-1922, who married 24 April 1883, Jonesboro, Clayton County, GA, Beulah Hightower, 1866-1930.Their home was in Commerce, Jackson County, GA. Their children were: Dr. John Hightower Cooper, DDS, 1884-1953, St. Petersburg, FL (married perhaps twice, but no issue); Noreen Cooper, 1887-1969, married Harvey F. Bray, 1877-1949, an official with the Coca Cola Company (no issue); Charles Key Cooper, 1890-1923 (perhaps married, but no known issue); Lamar Jackson Cooper, 1897-1965 (presumed unmarried); and Henry Linton Cooper, 1901-1931 (married, wife unknown, and said to have had daughter Lynn Cooper, of whom nothing known). This family is buried on the hill in Graystone Cemetery, Commerce, GA. Margaret S. Cooper, 1895-1964, is the presumed wife of Charles Key Cooper.
Buried with them are John Z. Cooper, 1829-1909, Co. B, 5th Regt., GA Volunteers, 1861-1865; L. Erasmus Key, 1850-1917; and M. Elizabeth Key, 1855-1925.Since the name Charles Key Cooper appeared in the family above, it is likely that the wife of John Z. Cooper was a Miss Key.
A sister of Beulah Hightower Cooper, Leonora Hightower, 1869-1952, married in 1887, Charles T. Vincent of Athens, Clarke County, GA.Charles Vincent and Charles Cooper were said to be cousins.A Vincent daughter stated that her father Charles T. Vincent was the son of a Miss Matthews who was connected to the well-known Matthews family of eastern Georgia.Charles Vincent died in Athens, GA, several years after his marriage and his widow returned to Jonesboro, GA, and later, in 1896, married Dr. James Solon Cousins.
