I am a descendent of Frank Alexander Coons. He had two brothers who also rode with Mosby: Warren Eudoxus Coons (younger) and James William Coons (older). Another brother, George Dallas Coons, was a first sergeant with the Little Fork Rangers, Co D, 4th Virginia Cavalry. It is conceivable that at some point while on home on leave he mustered with Mosby. They were sons of Robertson Coons.

But to complicate matters, there was a John William Coons, son of Winfield Scott Coons, a brother to Robertson. This J.W. Coons would also have been of the right age to ride with Mosby. They all lived in the same area north of Culpeper.

There were other brothers of Robertson, son of William Coons (born 1773), but I don't have any children listed for them. I believe there also may have been a brother or cousin to William in the area: John Coons, wife Nancy. I haven't been able to figure that out, yet.

Back to the Corbin connection: Mary Dillard Coons did marry Lemuel Armisted Corbin. I have pictures of Mary, though not of Lemuel. I also have some of their coin silver spoons, engraved.
