I have copy of Deed for property bought by Nicholas "Coons" in 1810 in sheriff's sale from Wm. McConnel in St. Chas. Co, MO. Also have document appointing Rebecca "Coons" administratrix of Nicholas' estate dated Oct 1821. Also, the obituary of Nicholas "Coonts" grandson, the son of Maria, states that Nicholas was abducted and held by indians. All this leads me to believe that this is the same Coonce you are researching. I know that Nicholas Coons was a private in Macky Wherry's Company of Dragoons that marched with General William Clark in 1808 to build Fort Osage at the confluence of the Osage and Missouri rivers. I know little else about him and his forebears. I'll be glad to share info of Maria's descendants.
