Mrs. Oka Jarrell Died At Age Of 67
Whitesville - Mrs. Olive Jarrell, 67, died at her home at Orgas on
Monday, following a long illness,
She was born at Racine January 14, 1878, the eldest daughter of the
late Esau and Minsie Jarrell Coon,
She was a member of the Presbyterian church.
Surviving are her husband, Okus Jarrell; three sisters, Mrs. Selma
Stover, and Mrs. Stella Perry, both of Whitesville; Mrs. Zelma Jarrell
of Colcord; three brothers, Parley and Bert Coon of Sylvester and
Curtis Coon of St.Mary's 10 grandchildren and three great
grandchildren.
Services will be held at the Orgas Presbyterian church on Wednesday,
with burial following at the Mordue Cemetery near Whitesville.
*It's curious that grandchildren are listed, but not any children!

Final rites for Mrs. Zella Chloe Jarrell, 81 of Colcord, will be held
Monday in the Colcord Presbyterian Church, of which she was a member,
with burial in the Mordue cemetery.
Mrs. Jarrell died Friday en route to a Whitesville hospital.
Born at Racine, she was a daughter of the late Esau and Nancy Jarrell
Kuhn.
Her husband, James C. Jarrell, preceded her in death in 1941.
Surviving are a son, Lloyd C. of Elkton; three daughters, Mrs. Lester
Baird of Dallas.,Texas, Mrs. Lola Arthur of Ameagle and Mrs. Bashia
Hamilton of Colcord; two brothers, Parley Kuhn of Sylvester and Curtis
Kuhn of Long Lane, Mo., two sisters, Mrs. Dolly Pettry and Mrs.
Thelma Stover, both of Whitesville; 10 grandchildren and 13 great
grandchildren.

Bashia Hamilton Honored
Colcord - A cookout was held at the home of Mrs. D.F. Hamilton
Tuesday, in honor of her 73rd birthday.
Mrs. Hamilton is a Raleigh County school teacher, having been a
teacher and principal for 45 years.
She is active in school work, serving as a substitute teacher in the
Raleigh and Boone County schools. she is a member of the West Virginia
Education Association and the Raleigh County retired teachers group,
and also belongs to the National Retired Teachers Association.
Mrs. Hamilton served as church pianist, is a Beckley Post-Herald
correspondent and worked in her garden.
She has one daughter, Mrs. Robert P. (Jean) Martin, five grandchildren
and two great-granddaughters, one of whom is living with her.
Telephone calls were received from Mrs. Lester Baird and Mrs. Larry
Kopec, a sister and granddaughter in Dallas and Killeen, Tex.,
respectively.
