I am looking for help sorting out Mathew Coons who died in Oakland County, Michigan in 1855.
One was born to Luke and Lydia (Comstock) Coon.
Another was born 1808 in Hastings, New York to Charles Coon and Elizabeth Morse.
A third was born about 1813 to David Coon and Christian Finch. The census says the Matthew I seek was born in New York. This was born in New Jersey, but moved to New York at an early age. This Matthew had a sister Rachel and uncles named Levi. Both those names were repeated in Matthew's progeny.
One Matthew Graves Cook was born about 1805 in Hekimer, New York to Daniel Coon and Nancy Sampson.
A fourth Matthew Coon was born 27 Apr 1812 in New York. His parents were Job Coon and Ama Anne Colgrove.
The Mattew I'm looking for was married to Rachel Broas.
Historically Mattheis or Mathias Kuntz came from Bischmisheim, Germany after a stay in a refuge camp at St. Catharine, Debtford, England, then from Rotterdam to New York, arriving in the New World in 1710. This accounts for so many Kuhn.
