Just to set things straight a bit: I am a direct descendant of Jeremiah Prosser through his son Nathan (bc 1775-80) and grandson Nathan (b1816 Scriba, Oswego Co, NY). The only suggestion of a connection with a Polly Prosser is from a Boston Transcript of 1921 which mentions Polly (bc1781) and a brother Nathan. This has never been confirmed to my knowledge, and Polly may well instead have been the daughter of Ichabod and Abigail, as has been suggested. Nathan (bc 1775-80) married a Sarah ------, and is presumed to have been born at Easton, NY,. He served in the War of 1812, and is believed to have moved to Scriba, Oswego County the same year. I have discovered no known siblings of his to date. His children include (to the best of my knowledge): Electa, bc 1802, who married Hiram Fish; Jeremiah, bc 1804/5, married Gertrude Smith; Julia Ann, bc 1809, married Harry Shearer Coon; Joseph W., bc 1807/8, 1st married Julia ----- (Coon?), Sarah, bc 1814, maried Simeon Coe, Nathan, b1816, married Lucy Ann Schellinger, and Caroline, bc 1822, married Clement H. Schellinger (Lucy's brother). Nathan (bc 1775-80 served with Col. Jonathan Parkhurst's Brigade of Oneida County in War of 1812, perhaps at Sackett's Harbor. Not known if he was at Scriba before his service. Was certainly at Easton, NY at 1810 census with his father Jeremiah. Relationship to Jonathan Prosser (also at Easton, NY 1810C) who married Rebecca Hayes unknown. Nathan and Jonathan lived on border between Scriba/New Haven in Oswego County, NY after 1815, families very close, but no direct relationship proven to date. Jonathan may also have been son of Ichabod and Abigail. Note differnce in census enumeration of Jeremiah and Nathan in 1810C Easton,NY as "Prawsaw", and Jonathan as "Prossey" (same as Ichabod of Petersburgh). Have guessed that Jeremiah may have been brother to John Prosser of Pownal, VT, and both of them as brothers to Arnold Prosser of RI, but yet to be proven. Note also that Benjamin Prosser of Easton, NY (w/ Hannah) b1764 [buried at Harrington Cemetery, Easton] was (illegimitmate) first-born son of Arnold and Esther (Eldred) Prosser. (RI records do not give Benjamin's first name, but can be shown as same by comparison of birth dates). Jeremiah Prosser known at Easton, NY early as 1774 deed. Jeremiah therefore may have been uncle to Benjamin. Would like to hear from others who have relevant data to share. Perhaps connections to Whaley, Stewart, Pettys, or Coon families of Easton, NY. Also interest in Codner family; Jeremiah leased in 1774 at Easton from an Ichabod Codner. Notify Administrator about this message?
