Great!! Let me give you a little information. Samuel was the brother of George Washington Coon who was born in PA in 1786. I figure that Samuel was born five years or so of Georges birth year. The last I know of Samuel is that he purchased some land in Ohio in about 1840 - then we lost track of him. He bought and sold land quite a lot in Ohio. Samuel's wife was Elizabeth North who he married in Fairfield Co, OH in 1810. George married Elizabeth's sister, Mary Burket North, in 1808 same place. We have never been able to find the grave of Mary Burket North. But an interesting thing has come up lately. Another researcher who is older even than I am recalls her uncle, who was very old then, saying that his grandmother, Mary Burket North, was buried on the shores of Lake Michigan. Everyone had discounted this because we knew of no one living on the shores of Lake Michigan. Then I came across a Government Land Office record of a Samuel Coon purchasing land in Lake County, Ill in 1843. A little more digging and I found out that there is a cemetery on the lake shore in Waukeegan. A researcher looked for me but couldn't find anything. Interestinly enough, George and Mary and a few of their sons had settled in Spring Green, Sauk, WI in abt. 1851 which is about 100 miles from Waukegan. This would have been a long trip for a visit back then except the railroad ran through Spring Green and through Waukegan, so I may not have been all that inconvenient. One problem with the family research is the different ways that the surname was spelled (Coon, Koon, Coons, Koontz, etc). I believe there was a Samuel Cone in the same area. May have been Samuel Coon. Enough rambling. Probably the most intersting and promising lead I have is the land purchase by Samuel Coon in Lake County in 1843 through the Chicago land office.
