Thanks, Dixie. About two minutes before I read your message, someone else told me that Mathew and Lydia had a son named Joseph. For some reason I had never seen that name on the list of their children.

If my Samuel, b. 1793, could be the son of Mathew and Lydia's youngest son John, is it possible that the Joseph Coons in this thread are descended from Mathew and Lydia's older son Joseph? The timing doesn't seem quite right-- the original Joseph of Dryden was b. 1745, from what I understand. But somehow this puzzle fits together logically! If only I knew how!
