Can someone tell me more about the family of John Coombes who married Elizabeth "Betsy" Drake ca 1825-1830 probably in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Their descendants are mentioned in the book "The Drake Family in England and America, 1360-1895 by Louis Stoughton Drake, Boston 1896. He says that Betsy was born in 1804, the daughter of George Roger Drake and his second wife, a widow named Mrs. Copper. By her he had also a son Alexander who left numerous descendants. Betsy and John Coombes were said to have had 9 children, among whom was Mrs. Sarah Jane Saunders of Grand Bank, Halifax, NS. I imagine it was Mrs. Saunders who gave information on her Drake line to Louis Drake for his book.
