Hi I was born Pamela Patricia Coombes, daughter of Donald Coombes and Ivy Gertrude Peters. My father was the third child of Thomas Coombes of Rock Cottage, Shipton-u-Wychwood. My aunt Phyllis is deceased, but her sister Dorothy (married to Bob Brookes of Shipton) may still be alive. My aunt Phyl had five or six children. My aunt Dorothy had two daughters, Diana and Phyllis. I had (have) two brothers, the eldest Peter (now deceased) had two daughters Ann Loise and Susan. The other brother, David had two daughters by his first wif, Hazel and a son, Philip by his second wife, Mary. Of my grandfather's family, he had brothers, but I will have to dig deep into the memory banks to remember names. A trip round the churchyard would probably fix it all - if ever I get a chance to come back. One of my great uncles had a marvellous 'fix it' shop in Shipton High Street. I remember visiting my great grandparents whose cottage was close to the Green. Philip Coombes (I believe he was a solicitor) was a cousin of my father's. In my posession I have a series of magazine pages depicting life in and around Shipton and Leafield. One scene, taken in the Red Horse shows several of my cousins and great uncles. My very early childhood was spent in Milton-u-Wychwood and after we moved to Southend on Sea, and later to Wrexham in Wales, I spent most of my school holidays in Shipton with my grandparents or my aunts. The Amy? I changed my name to Amy Longshaw, after my grandmother's sister, but then a South Australian changed the surname to Hungarian. I live on the Gold Coast, Queensland now.
