Coombes Family Genealogy Forum

Hi. If anyone has any information on a James Coombs who came to America from Scotland and died in the late 60's or early 70's, we believe somewhere outside of Kansas City. He would have been born sometime in the 1880's or 1870's, possibly, and originally came to this country with his first wife, Elizabeth Grey. They had two girls, one of whom was my grandmother, Myrtle Coombs, in 1908. She then died in childbirth several years later and James had the girls 'adopted' by other families as he believed he couldn't care for them on his own. My understanding is that he remarried sometime later and had another family and lived until the late 60's/early 70's, most likely in Missouri. My grandmother was born in Carthage, MO and the adoption papers were signed somewhere in Arkansas. Thanks.
