Thank you very much for the reply. You have helped me solve the mystery of who the daughter of Hiram Jackson & Abby Cooley was .. the Lucretia Jackson, born 1829 in Champaign County,Oh. that you mention in the excerpt from her 1917 Obituary. I knew from the 1830 and 1840 census records that there was a daughter born around 1828 to 1830, but did not know her name.
Now you also bring up your ggg grandmother Lucretia "Letcy" Jackson as a sister of Hiram Jackson. I do show a sister, born in 1802, also in Vermont like Hiram and older children.
But dont you show your Lucretia as born in Va in 1804? Was that derived from census records of your Lucretia?
Hiram was part of of a family from Arlington, VT. His parents were Stephen Jackson & Hannah Hawley. Their children (Currance, Rhoda, Stephen, James, Amos, Hiram, Truman, and unknown twin sister of Truman)were born in Arlington, Vt. In 1806 the family moved to Durham TWP, Missisquoi Co, Lower Quebec. Their last child, Sophrona, was born there in 1807. In 1814, when war of 1812 ended, they left Canada and went with the Green Settlement Contingent to Union Twp, Union County, Ohio to settle.
If your Lucretia was born in Virginia, she could not be part of Hiram's immediate family. Could you verify from census records where she was born and what year?
