Michael, wow, that was certainly a quick response! Yes, I am indeed a Cooley by birth. My father's (now deceased) name was Terrel. His father was J. Dewey Cooley, the son of Clayton W. Cooley who is listed on your site among the descendants of Abraham Cowley. My father was very interested in his family history in the years prior to his passing, so I have attempted to pick up where he left off but have been unable to confirm anything beyond Jacob Sr. I have no brothers, but I do have a couple of male Cooley cousins, one of whom does seem to have some interest in family history, and I am in contact with him. I actually have considered approaching him about the possibility of DNA testing and perhaps will follow through on that. As you say, it might just point us in the right direction. If you have any advice in regard to the process, I'd be happy to hear it.
