Seriously, does anyone know about James Cooley in 1850 Dickson County, TN?

This James Cooley, listed as 56 in October 1850, born in North Carolina, married to Martha, 49, born in VA, with son Willow, 13, and daughter, Polly, 10, both born in Missouri, living a few doors down from Wm P. Lewis and family; my Great Great Grandfather E C was married to William's daughter, Mary A. Lewis, in 1858. Is this James Cooley one of the "Stokes County" Cooley tribes? His children were born in Missouri; was he part of the Cooley migration to MO in the early 1800s? Why did he and Martha have a few kids and then move back east to Dickson County, TN? Does anyone know about the Iron Works in that region of Tennessee in the mid-1800s? After the Civil War, the family moved north to Kentucky; what was the post-war draw? Any reasonable hypotheses or plain ol' guesses will be appreciated. Thanks!
