I am searching for the parents of my Great, Great Grandfather E.C. Cooley, a.k.a. Ervin or Erwin.
He was born in Missouri in October 1835. According to the 1880 Census in Mulenberg County, Kentucky, his parents were
both born in North Carolina. However, the 1900 Census in
Christian County, Kentucky lists his father's birthplace
as Missouri. His first son, John W. Cooley, born in Tennessee in 1861, was my Great Grandfather. Though it's just a hunch, perhaps E.C. named his first son after his father? The rest of his children with Mary A. (b.1839 TN)
include Mary E., George H., Leonard C., Erwin E., David L,
Martha Y., Dora B., James W., Charles C., and Annie, all born in Tennessee. John W. settled in Springfield, TN, where his son Luster Dell married Janie Belle Bollinger and had their first son, Luster, my father. Please help!
