Roy Lee Torbett, 86, of Englewood, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at Woods Memorial Hospital in Etowah.
A native of Monroe County and resident of McMinn County for 60 years, he was a son of the late Ollie and Della Gamble Torbett. He was a member of Englewood First Church of God and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Crofts Torbett of Englewood; a foster son, Scott Crofts of Englewood; two brothers, Reece Torbett of Englewood and Ruel Torbett of Dallas, Ga.; three sisters, Zeola Massengale of Murfreesboro, Thelma Cooley of Gulfport, Miss., and Polly Cardin of Liberty Center, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Thursday in the south chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. Will Hughes officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday in Sunrise Cemetery in Englewood.
Pallbearers will be Cecil Torbett, Kenneth Gay, Ernest Moses, W.J. Harris, Claude Derrick and Johnny Burris. Honorary pallbearers will be Ernie Chase and Cecil Gay.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
