Do you know where Hollis and Elizabeth were living in 1850? I know that they were in Jasper Co. in 1830 and 1840 and that they married in 1827 in Jasper Co. Ga. I've looked on the 1850 census for GA and can't find them.
I do find Elizabeth on the 1860 census in Rome, Floyd Co. GA. enumerated on July 9th.On this census, there are several daughters living in the household, with two older than Mary, who is listed as age 17, which should make her at least 27 on the 1870 census.Makes me wonder why Mary didn't live with one of the sisters instead of going to live with the Shorters.
The only other Cooleys on the 1860 census is Thomas J. and Mary Cooley, in Floyd County, Georgia, making me wonder if there may be a connection between the two families.Do you know if Hollis had a brother named Westley/Wesley?
I've also looked and looked for Thomas Cooley and Mary Cooley with no success either.Either Thomas died bet. 1860 and 1870 or he changed his name, date of birth, place of birth, etc. the same with Mary. The only Mary Cooley I find of the correct age, in GA, in Floyd Co, is the Mary Cooley age 25 living in the household of Alfred Shorter.
Do you have any other Mary Cooleys born about 1846 in GA, in your files?
