Yesterday I was searching for the cemetery where my great-great grandmother Elizabeth (Moss) Fox and some of her descendants were buried. In earlier times the cemetery was called Motto Cemetery, but now it has apparently acquired the name of Cooley Cemetery. It is in Section 21 of Pleasant Township in Appanoose County at the very end of a dead end road on the right. The dead end road goes south. The cemetery is southeast of Numa. Absalom Adams donated the land for this cemetery, but apparently burials had taken place before his donation. There were many Cooleys buried there, including a Cardinal Cooley. The biggest and best stone was for some Cooleys; it was toppled and needs to be put upright. Are the Cooleys related to the Foxes or Mosses? Or did Cooleys and Foxes just happened to live close to each other and use the same cemetery? Cooley is not a common name, so I thought I would post this to see whether there are connections that I do not know about. J.Mitchell Notify Administrator about this message?
