I am seeking the present day relatives of George Cookson who was married to Sheila "Shelagh" (nee Leigh) Cookson (b. 1930, d.2001) of Preston, Lancashire area between 1969 and 1989. George died of a stroke and brain tumor in December 1989. Sheila was Roman Catholiic, but, in her letters to my grandmother, she commented that her husband was not. He would take her to church and wait outside for her after services. Sheila was my grandfather's niece and my father's cousin. She grew up in Belfast age 3 before her family moved to Preston and lived over the the Fulwood Barracks Post Office at 209 Watling Street when she was a child. Her parents ran the post office and a Stationery store named Leigh Stationers. Upon George's death, Sheila moved to Northern Wales and lived at "The Boathouse" in Llanbedrog. Related families include the Bickertons of Barton, Leighs of Preston, and Smiths of Preston. I have pictures of Sheila as a child and as an adult.
