I have this info from the 1851 census that might give you what you're after:
Northwich South
Cottage, Darnhall
Name Age Occ Born
Elizabeth Cookson Head 51 Laundress Chshre, Over
John Son 11 Son at Home "
George " 8 Scholar "
Ann " 6 Darnhall
I know that this implies he was born in Over, however, we know that depends on how accurate the info given was and who gave it to the census!
It looks like George's mother was a widow by 1851, and from Ann's age I am guessing his dad died around 1845. Although this Elizabeth may not be their natural mother.
