Cooksey Family Genealogy Forum

I would be interested in your documentation on the Cooksey Family. I have only begun to research this branch of my family. As my post mentioned, I began about a year ago on my entire project, and boys howdy, it is a doozy!! I have excerpts from the Henderson Co., NC Heritage book on the Capps family, it fails to mention anything about Nancy Cooksey except the fact that they married in South Carolina,
that was listed as 1791. It states that William Capps served in the American Revolution, that he was born in Chatham County,NC on 10-16-1764 and after the war he moved to South Carolina and lived in Edgefield and Greenville Counties. He brought his family to Buncombe County after 1800.
When the 1790 census was compiled, four Cooksey families lived in Edgefield County, SC. Andrew, Josiah and Jesse had settled in the Ninety-Six district of Edgefield. Cornelius had settled in the Greenville district. Jesse and Justillian Cooksey were South Carolina Loyalist in the American Revolution, and were privates in the Company of Captain George Dawkins in 1782. Jesse Cooksey was living in Buncombe County, NC. In 1830 Daniel Cooksey sold land on Green River to Robert Thompson. In 1831 Daniel Cooksey obtained a State grant for land on Green River.
Looking over all of this information, I would "guess" that Nancy was the daughter of Cornelius Cooksey. I have no documention on this, and the reason I "guess" about this....Her first born son (first of 12) was named Cornelius Capps b. 1792 d. 1860. Cornelius is my 4th Great Grandfather.
