Andrew Cooksey, Jr received property from his father, Andrew, Sr. in Greenville, SC, 25 March, 1805. Deed Book H...... According to "Primal Fanilies of Yellow Creek" by WM. Nesbitt, Andrew was born ab. 1780, Hillsborough Dist. of North Carolina, probably Orange Co. He supposedly married Phoebe Tubb Nov. 1, 1799, Enoree Church, Greenville Co., SC. It is further presumed that they arrived Smith Co, Tn about 1806 as their fourth child, Emily B. was born 9 Jan 1807, their first child born in Tn. Andrew served in the War of 1812, and died before July 1816, the publish date of administer of estate. His administrator was George Tubb, his father-in-law. His widow, Phoebe, is shown next door to her father, George Tubb, with 5 sons, 2 daughters. The only named sons in the histories I have are George Tubb b. 1800, Isaac,b. 1803, J. William, b. 1809. and Enoch, b. 1812.One history shows an unknown child b. 1814. This must be the fifth son. Daughters were Lucinda b.1805, and Emily B in 1807. These do not match up to the census tables for the children's ages. Can anyone help? It shows two daughters under 10 in 1820. Phoebe is not mentioned as a daughter in George Tubb's will of 17 Oct. 1836, indicating she was deceased by that time. Her children were listed as heirs, but not named. This is an interesting family story, and some of it may even be true. That portion which we have factual evidence for seems to be fairly compatible with the story.
