I don't want to start a war with Mel again but I had to comment. When I graduated from High School here in Austin, Texas in 1947..the person that handed me my certificate mispronounced myname "Coxey". He had known me from the 1st Grade. Not in your County but many Cooksey's were in NC from 1 Sept 1775 on. Thomas and Hank Cooksey joined the Rev. in NC. Abednego Cooksey was on the Tax Rolls of Coswell District, Halifax County NC in 1776. Flora McPherson was born in NC in 1797. She married William E. Cooksey brother to my GGGrandfather John C Cooksey, in Green Co MS 22 May 1816. The problem with the Cooksey's in NC..they didn't stay there very long..they seem to go on to KY, Tnn, SC, and Ga. JL Cooksey
