I have Mary Ellen Cooksey b. 10/01/1823 Ky. in Dallas Co. Mo. She married James William Cannon in 1846. Living next door to James W. and Mary Ellen on the 1860 census were John Cooksey 48 Ky, William C.Cooksey 33 Ky, George W. Cooksey 21 Ky,William Cooksey 24 Ky, Rebecca Cooksey 67 NC, Their children's names:
William Allen, John Wilson, James Crittenton, Francis Marion, Missouri A. Louis Leadstone, Perry Madison, Sara Julia, and Dock.
Common surnames from this area are LANIER, ATTEBERRY, DAVISON ,MCKAY, KELLOGG, AUSTIN, & BLANKENSHIP. Many of the family are buried in the JONES/CANNON cemetery in CHARITY MO. I'm hoping to establish the relationship of Mary Ellen to the other Cooksey's in the area. Any info is appreciated, Thanks
