I am interested in finding the parents of John W. and Eliza Jane Cooksey. Both were born in Georgia - John in 1831 and Eliza Jane in 1834. They were my maternal grgrgrandparents. There first child, Hattie Cooksey (my grgrandmother) was born in Dallas County, Ark. in 1853. 3 years later they were in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana as that is where the next 3 children were born - Laura in 1856, James in 1861, and William in 1863. John and Eliza were listed in the 1870 census of Claiborne Parish, but not in the 1880 cenus, and as far as I know, they are not buried in Claiborne Parish. In the 1870 census of this parish there were quite a few Cookseys listed: R.H. Cooksey, Elizabeth Cooksey (widow) and son Benjamin, Alexander Cooksey, W.E. Cooksey and 7 month old son, Robert L. All of these families listed their birthplace as Georgia. I wonder if any of these names are familiar and if you can help me find the parents of John and Eliza. Ann Gleason
