(Although this is mostly about Tuckers and Laceys, Cookseys are an important part of this line also) Sometime before 1900, Nathan Howard Tucker and wife Ella Stark Ford Tucker moved from Seale, Russell County, AL, to Pratt City, Jefferson county, Alabama. Already, in the 1890s, Nathan's sister, Martha Lucinda Tucker and husband Lorenzo Monroe Lacey, had moved to Pratt City, and Lacey ran a grocery, etc. Their children were merchants and civic leaders in Pratt City, Ensley, etc. More of this info is written up by Peggy Lacey Holmes and published in The Heritage of Jefferson County Alabama. I am searching for descendants of Nathan & Ella Tucker and Martha & Lorenzo Lacey who may know more about their TUCKER line. Nathan and Martha were children (twins) of Joseph Tarpley Tucker and Jane/Janet COOKSEY Tucker in Russell County AL. Is anyone aware of other relatives of J. T. Tucker's in Russell or Jefferson Co or elsewhere? Did J. T. have a sister Gilly Ann Tucker who married Duncan Cooksey (brother of JT's wife Janet Cooksey)? Other siblings of Nathan and Martha were James Madison Hill (aka Hill) Tucker, MacPherson (Mac) Tucker, George Washington Tucker (b.1856) and my line, William Archibald Lester (W.A.L.) Tucker. There may be another sibling, a female? There is a Miss Gertrude Tucker and a Gertrude H. Tucker who are living with Nathan & Ella Tucker in Pratt City in 1902 and 1905 city directories. Who were the Gertrude Tuckers? Hill Tucker moved to Atlanta. MacPherson Tucker moved to Jacksonville, Florida. W.A.L. Tucker stayed in Seale, his son moved to Columbus, Georgia. One researcher has told me that Joseph (J. T.) Tucker's parents were James Tucker and Jennifer Tarpley. I am searching for other sources on the Tucker/Tarpley line. Thanks for any help!
