Mel, My error, John C. was, of course, on the Gonzales, Co. Tx census. I had stapled the transcript about John to my information about Enoch of Montgomery, Co. and in my haste to connect with you folks the other night I committed a genealogical faux pax. I based my link of John and Enoch on family history related to me by my grandmother. She referred to John C. as a gguncle who had helped build the first dogtrot cabin in Gonzales, Tx. (The one still standing with the historical marker affixed.) Her father was James Alvis Cooksey, son of Andrew J. Cooksey, son of Enoch, son of Andrew, Jr., son of Andrew, Sr..., Since John C. was 35 in 1850 (born in Tennessee) and Enoch was 37 in 1850 (born in Tennessee)the age difference fit for the unknown son of Phoebe and Andrew; ergo,it never occurred to me that there might be a discrepency in my grandmother's story. (Another example of lazy research). If you have any information about Andrew, Sr. and family in S.C. or before, please share. I have neglected this branch of the family for some time and finding your missives on the net the other night rekindled my interest. Family lore holds that the family came into S.C. from northern Ireland...? I would also be interested in comparing any information on the Tubb/Boyd family that you might have. I apoligize to all for any confusion I may have caused.
