I have Short -family also in my line. It comes down through my Fairfax line that the Cooksey's intermarried with. Simpson Cooksey m Mary Fairfax a decendent of Hezekiah Fairfax b ca 1755 Charles Co., Md., his 2nd wife was Margaret Calvert, the daughter of George Calvert called the younger and Elizabeth Cynthia Jane Harrison, daughter of Capt Thomas Harrison and his wife Sythia Elizabeth Short.

I believe my, Zacheriah Cooksey info- Prince William Co., comes from the Mills of Virginia article in the "Virginia Genealogist" and the LDS FHC.

I agree there could be other places for Cookseys' to come from, I think it is possible that Samuel Cooksey who married Christian Tennison, possibly had a brother ?William? This is just speculation.

I did not know that Samuel Cookseys line had been finished???? completed.

I have some info on William Cooksey son of William Cooksey but it comes from FTM WFT, so not real reliable and you might already have it. Let me know I will look it up.
