Hi Mel, That helps some. I have been trying to find which line my Cooksey's come from -Samuels or the Immigrant Phillip Cooksey. This puts me back in Samuel's line again. This is the one that I keep coming back to. Still the original Zacheriah Cooksey was in Prince William Co., VA., same as my line. The line you describe seems more likley to come from the Phillip Cooksey line. There was a John Cooksey also in Shanandoah Co., Va., that looks like he might be a brother of Phillip Cooksey who lived in Farquier Co., Va. Are you familar with that line??? I am interested in Zacheriah Cooksey. Shadrack Cooksey, if I remember, he had land in Fairfax Co., Va., and his wife's name was Jemima. I remember he belonged to William Cooksey 1st spouse Anne Semmes, possibly another spouse Barbara Smallwood. That would make Shadrack Cooksey grandson of Samuel Cooksey. Do you have a birth date for Shadrack or any info on his wifes line???? Do you know how his children got named Vincent? Is it from the wifes side of family or Cooksey??? Thank you so much for responding, this does seem to be something. My Cooksey line would have traveled through Indiana to get to Iowa, they were in Union Co., Ohio- to Allamakee Co., Iowa. Obed Cooksey Jr was in the 1810 Fairfax Co., census, but he was prby there as early as 1787 as his mother remarried and her husband George Mills, was of Fairfax Co., and that is where Lydia (Calvert) Cooksey/Mills died in 1844. Thanks again. Laree'
