It may be that this is the William Cooksey on the 1820 Cumberland County, Ky. Census who is
45+. A younger William and a John Cooksey are there also. William Cooksey of Halifax Co., Va, who was the son of Shadrack Cooksey, had two young brothers, (half-brothers?) John and Samuel, probably from Shadrack's second wife. They were assigned to guardian John Collins in Halifax Co., Va in 1801 at Shadrack's death.
A John Collins appears in Cumberland Co. Ky in the 1810's along with a William Cooksey.
The John Cooksey on the 1820 census there does not fit for Shadrack's son John.

William Cooksey has no land records, no will, or no court records in Cumberland Co, Ky. He is gone at the 1830 census. John Collins died 1831, no mention of Cookseys in inventory appraisement there. At the 1830 census, the younger William remains, the John Cooksey is gone.
Neighboring families are Wade, Rowland, Murphy, Moon, Franklin, Cummins, Key, Asberry, Shelley, Jordan.

Anybody have any info on these Cookseys?
