If anyone is related to Woodford Cooksey co A,B 13th Tenn Cavalry, there is a very moving account of his surrender,1864.
UNITED STATES CONGRESS, JOINT COMMITTEE ON THE CONDUCT OF THE WAR;FORT PILLOW MASACRE
pages 36 and 57.
He was shot along with many others after they surrenderd to the "Rebs".
