I am a Cooksey descendant who has done some work on the family; I live in Greensville County, Va. near the area where John Baptist Cooksey settled. Over the years I have seen several published references to Charles Cooksey and his family. The first is Landon C. Bell's OLD FREE STATE, which covers Charles Cooksey's family. The second also covers Charles Cooksey's family and military record in the Revolutionary war. I cannot remember the exact name of the volume, but is a series of books on the Virginia Revolutionary soldiers that I have only seen in the library of the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg. It has a page and a half on Charles Cooksey and his service.
