I am not well-versed at all on the Cooke family in Virginia. Wish I could correspond to you a year from now! But let me quote to you another posting of Mrs. Besalt's that links John Cook, Joseph and James (of the counterfeiting gang).

In Pittsylvania Co. deed of gift: Book 4, page 43, Jul 28, 1774, from John COOK of Pittsylvania to Gideon RUCKER of P, for the love that he has for his son-in-law Gideon Rucker, about 100 acres on the Crabtree fork of Snow Creek in P, and bounded by the lines of John HEARD, Joseph COOK, James COOK and Amos RICHARDSON. Signed John COOK. Recorded Jul 28, 1774.

Mrs. B's note continues "Amos Richardson was married to Lucy Cook, sister to John Cook. Lucy and John were children of Benjamin and Mary Cook."

I've never heard of a Frederick Cooke so I am intrigued by that but Benjamin is a name that has been passed down in my branch of the family along with the name Rowland.

Sorry I can't tell you more. But I'll keep looking.
