The Cookes in my family tree are Mordecai Cooke
Sr.b.1624 Probably in England d.abt.1667-68
he is my 10th greatgrandfather .His son
Moredcai Cooke II b.1648 was sheriff of Glou-
cester in 1698 and a Virginia Burgess for
some years between1698 and 1718.Modecai I was probably married to Susanna (widow of Michael
Peasley)and probably to a Thrasher before him
.Mordecai II had a brother named Thomas Cooke
.I do not know the name of Mordecai Cooke II's wife,but it may have been Elizabeth Ironmonger,their daughters name was Susanna Cooke b.12/8/1693,m.Henry Fitzhugh2/24/1718.
ALL of this information was given to me by
my father ,through my great aunt from a Mr.
Wright.I will be glad to share whatever info
you may be interested in the info goes back
13 generations to 1600 to a John Woodson
killed in the 1644 indian massacre in Virginia.
