More interesting tidbits:
Phillip St George Cooke was a Union commander of Cavalry. His unit was famous for a charge he led in the Seven Day's Battles.
James EB Stuart & Flora named their first-born Phillip St Geo Cooke Stuart. When the War began, and sides were chosen, that son's name was changed to James EB Stuart, Jr (as per a talk given by James EB Stuart, IV a few years ago).
Flora also had a brother John Rogers Cooke who was a General in NC.
If ANYONE finds a male Cooke descended from this lineage PLEASE encourage him to test with Family Tree DNA, Cook-Cooke Koch DNA Project. I am the administrator and would love to "place" these Cookes. We currently have the following lineages identified (among others):
1. Mayflower Cookes (Francis of the Mayflower)
2. Gloucester, VA Cookes (Mordecai Cooke). This line is related to the Mayflower Cookes, likely via a connection in England; proved via testing.
3. Cooke of Amelia: Shem Cooke, brother John, Rev William Cooke, etc
4. Cooke of Cumberland: descends from Abraham Cooke and Martha Clayton of Verdon, Hanover, VA.
5. Isle of Wight, VA Cookes
WE need a "Loudoun" Cooke tested and identified, so PLEASE pass the word!
Jim Cooke
