You are correct about Catherine Cook being married to Martin Shofner. He apparently came from Germany with his father (and likely his grandfather) to North Carolina. He served in the Revolutionary War as a calvary private; after the war he and his wife moved to what is now Bedford Co., TN. If you search FindAGrave.com, you'll see his markers and a plaque noting that he was a pioneer in that area (Shelbyville, TN). Since I'm at work presently, I don't have the exact dates, but if you want them, I'll be glad to post them.
