There is a fairly recently published book which lists the soldiers of the Seven Years War. There is a John Cooke listed on the Amelia County roster. I don't have the title of the book any longer. Misplaced the references on the Cookes when I moved. However, the Virginia Genealogical Society might know the name of the book. If you happen to find this is the Cooke you're looking for and you find his parentage, please let me know. I believe John Cooke and Shem Cooke were brothers. Shem's originations are a mystery to his descendants.
