We have a copy of an 1829 letter denoting the family origins. Apparently the first Robert Cooke landed near Chaptico, Maryland in 1720 and was a saddler and shoemaker by trade. I haven't gone back to the passenger arrivals yet, but if you have time, perhaps that will tell you where he sailed from and possibly his hometown. The letter continues that he made his first home with a Mr. Boyd and "In the same family there lived a young woman, lately from Devonshire in England. Her name was Sarah Fielding." Have a great trip!
