Hi Pete, I certainly wish you good luck in your search! There were so many Cook/Cooke families in early MA. My family originated down around the Westborough-Marlborough- Wrentham MA areas and in RI. My Cook line had Indian blood and I have been trying for years to track the family. My line seems to have started with a Cornelius Cook born about 1701. I know most of my genealogy from him on down to myself, but no real clue as to who his parents were. I have seen a Johanis mentioned, and in one place it said the father of Cornelius may have been a Johanis! However that was just in one place. I know there were Cooks who were Indians by getting into some old documents on line, but as yet I am unable to tie them in to my family. Folks back then (both Indians and whites) seemed to have changed their names and the spellings of their names over and over again! They also kept naming their kids the same first names! It is very frustrating! Anyway, good luck
