I am looking for information on the following Cooke family - William Cooke b. 1814 in Salford, Lancashire. He married Catherine Hodgates in Manchester Cathedral in 1830. Their son James was born in Todmorden, Yorkshire in 1846 - he is my g.g.grandfather. Both William and James were sawmakers and James set up a successful "File and Saw Factory" in Bootle, Liverpool in the late 1800's. I believe a number of James' sons also worked as sawmakers and my understanding is that the factory continued until the 1970's. Any information would be most welcome.
